The Board of Commissioners of Lafourche Ambulance District #1 (LAD#1) met in regular
session on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at its Administration Office located at 17078
West Main Street, Cut Off, LA 70345.
President Dean Savoie called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll was called: Board members in attendance: Dean Savoie, Reggie Pitre, Wayne Doucet,
and Aaron Arabie. Board members absent: Kip Plaisance, N J Lefort and Brian Marts.
Also present were: Administrator Michelle Pierce, Operations Manager Brady Daigle,
Administrative Assistant Debra Guidry, Data Manager Lisa Tegart, Paramedic Deeann
Bergeron, Guest John Unbehagen and Guest Christy Unbehagen
Comments from the Public: John Unbehagen addressed the Board about the lengthy time
it’s taking to complete the application process for his wife Tana’s death to be recognized as a
death in the line duty to qualify for federal funding.
Member Brian Marts enters the meeting at 4:15 pm.
Meeting Minutes – Motion by Reggie Pitre to approve the February 14, 2023 LAD #1 regular
board meeting minutes as written, second by Brian Marts. Unanimously approved.
President’s Report – Dean Savoie
A. Finance Committee Discussion – Dispatching Services – Recommendation from
Finance Committee to raise dispatching fee services paid to Lafourche Parish Fire
District #3 from $62,000 annually to $225,000 annually. Motion by Brian Marts to
approve recommendation from Finance Committee; second by Aaron Arabie. Voting
for - Wayne Doucet, Brian Marts and Aaron Arabie. Abstained – Dean Savoie since he
is a member of LPFD#3 board. Abstained – Reggie Pitre since he is a member of
LPFD#3 board. Absent – Kip Plaisance and N J Lefort. Motion Approved.
Finance committee discussion – Tax Millage – Recommendation from Finance
Committee that millage remain at 3.25 mills. Motion to approve recommendation by
Dean Savoie, second by Wayne Doucet. Unanimously approved.
Administration & Financial Report –
Operations Report – Operations Manager Brady Daigle reported on call statistics, monthly
call volume, and unit maintenance. Bids for windows for Cut Off Station should be complete
by end of week, Business Office repairs are approximately 85% complete - repairs to front
and roof of building and fence remain incomplete. Reports on call statistics, call volume,
response times, and medic alert devices were also presented. He also reported that the EMS

World Expo will be held in New Orleans in September 2023 and discussed the possibility of
reimbursing the cost of entry to exhibit hall for any of our medics attending.
Administration Report - Administrator Michelle Pierce presented the February 2023
finance report on collections, run charges, fund balances, and millage collections.
Administrator Pierce also presented information and plans to attend the Louisiana
Ambulance Alliance meeting to be held in coordination with the Arkansas EMS Expo in Hot
Springs, Arkansas from May 9-11, 2023; costs estimated at $645.00. Motion by Aaron Arabie,
second by Wayne Doucet to approve Administrator Michelle Pierce travel expenses
estimated to be $645. Unanimously approved.
Next Meeting Date: The next meeting of LAD #1 Board of Commissioners will be April 18,
2023, at 4 pm.

Being no further business to come before the board, motion to adjourn by Reggie Pitre,
second by Wayne Doucet. Unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
